What is a doctor pocket in a suit jacket?
It is a small interior pocket meant for a pen, pencil or slim card, typically set beside or below a standard inside breast pocket. Some makers call it a pen pocket; some clients say doctor pocket. The name is less important than the dimensions and the side. It is not a ticket pocket on the outside hip — that is in hacking pockets and ticket pocket — and it is not the breast welt on the outside chest (barchetta breast pocket).

Private-label lookbook tip
If the lookbook shows a pen in the doctor pocket, the sealed sample must include that pocket in the same place. Dropping it on bulk to "simplify" the lining creates returns from stylists who packed the shot. If you remove it later, update the lookbook and the tech pack in the same change note.
