Tuxedo vs Suit on the Same Clock: Facings, Buttons and Trouser Braid to Lock Before the Sample
A dinner suit does not get its own lead time at our factory. It runs on the same sample and production clocks as a lounge suit. What changes is the brief: a handful of evening details that, if left open, either stop the clock or end up decided by guesswork. Lock these six before the sample starts.

Same table as a list
Lapel style: peak, shawl or notch — sets the pattern.
Lapel facing: satin, grosgrain or self — changes trims.
Facing coverage: lapels alone, or lapels and collar.
Buttons: covered in facing, or a named button.
Trouser braid: single braid or none, matched to the facing.
Trouser waist: side adjusters or brace buttons.
Example brief line
"Midnight wool dinner suit, single-breasted one button, shawl lapel, black grosgrain facing on lapel and collar, covered buttons in grosgrain, single grosgrain braid on trousers, side adjusters, no belt loops, jetted pockets."
One line like that answers every question we would otherwise ask on WhatsApp, which is how a brief stays inside the clock.
What we check on the tuxedo sample
Facing sheen and colour against the body cloth under indoor light.
Facing edge and how it rolls at the lapel break.
Covered button finish.
Braid straightness down the side seam.
Waistband closure and comfort when seated.
Our sample policy explains how an approved sample becomes the reference for later pieces. Lapel geometry itself is covered in notch, peak and shawl lapels.
Order tracks
A single client dinner suit runs as MTM from 1. A house dinner suit under your label can run as bulk from 50 per style once the sample is sealed. Trims for bulk — facing cloth, buttons, braid — are confirmed in writing with the order. See our private label suit manufacturer page for bulk runs, and earlier tuxedo OEM MOQ notes.
FAQ
What are Shi Yuan's order tracks and clocks? Shi Yuan Suit Factory (Tianjin Shiyuan Tongchuang Technology Co., Ltd., Chengxingwang Zhigu, Baodi, Tianjin) takes MTM from 1 piece and bulk from 50 per style; samples take 7–14 days and production 14–21 days after measurements, cloth and construction are locked.
Does a tuxedo take longer than a suit? We publish the same clocks for both: sample 7–14 days, production 14–21 days after lock. Production days are not delivery days.
Can we change facing after the sample? Yes, but the change is a new lock and the clock restarts from it.
Do you supply the facing cloth? Facing and trims are confirmed per order in writing.
