Turning a Client’s Lounge Suit Fit Record into a Dinner Suit Order: What Carries Over and What to Re-Check
A good client who already has two lounge suits from your shop asks for a dinner suit for a December event. You have a fit record that works. The temptation is to send it unchanged. Most of it does carry over — and a few points change because evening clothes are worn differently.

Chest, shoulder, back, length: usually carries over.
Sleeve length: re-check for evening cuff show.
Trouser waist: re-check — adjusters or braces, no belt.
Trouser rise: re-check if braces or waistcoat.
Posture notes: carry over if recent.

New sample or straight to production?
Few changes, recent record: many shops go straight to production — 14–21 days after the changes are locked.
New block, new cloth type (velvet, ivory) or old record: a sample (7–14 days) first is the safer route.
Both clocks start after measurements, cloth and construction are locked. Production days are not delivery days.
Why this matters in December
Repeat clients are the orders most likely to make an early-December event, because a sample step can often be skipped. That makes them worth contacting first — before new clients fill your fitting calendar.
