Chinese New Year 2027 (6 February): A Work-Back Sheet for Custom Shops Ordering Suits from China

Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday, 6 February; New Year's Eve is Friday, 5 February. Mainland China's statutory Spring Festival holiday covers four days (the Eve plus the first three lunar days), and the State Council normally publishes the full 2027 schedule, with make-up working days, in November. Every factory then sets its own last production day before the break and its own restart day after it.

That last point is the one custom shops get wrong. The public holiday is a few days; the factory calendar around it is longer, and it is specific to each workshop. This sheet gives you the arithmetic and leaves the factory dates as blanks you fill from a written answer.

The two dates you must get in writing

  • Last production day before the break — call it D.

  • First production day after the break — call it R.

Ask on WhatsApp: "Please confirm in writing your last production day before Chinese New Year 2027 and your restart day." Until you have that reply, any date in your plan is a guess. We will not publish ours in a blog post; confirm in writing with the factory, every season.

The work-back formula

Production must finish on or before D. Our clocks start when measurements, cloth and construction are locked.

  • Repeat order on a sealed fit or sealed sample: latest lock = D − 21 days.

  • First order (sample, then production): latest lock = D − 21 − your sample review days − 14 days.

  • Then subtract your own lines: freight, customs, pressing and the client's fitting appointment come after production. Production days are not delivery days.

We plan on the upper end of each window (14 for the sample, 21 for production) because a work-back plan built on the lower end fails the first time a cloth confirmation slips.

Same sheet as a list

  • D, last production day: factory confirms in writing.

  • Production: 14–21 days; plan 21.

  • Your sample review: your figure.

  • Sample (first orders): 7–14 days; plan 14.

  • Latest lock, repeat order: D − 21.

  • Latest lock, first order: D − 21 − review − 14.

  • R, restart day: factory confirms in writing.

Why the break costs more than the holiday

  • Pre-holiday crowding. Many shops discover the same D at the same time. Orders locked in the final days before D compete for the same production line.

  • Restart is not full speed on R. Workshops across China take time after the break to bring every station back. Ask the factory how it schedules orders locked during the break.

  • Your clients' events do not move. Spring weddings and March business travel still need suits, so the order locked late in January can collide with them.

For the broader peak-season picture see peak-season suit lead time planning; for what restarts the clock, see what starts the production clock.

MTM from 1 or bulk from 50: which goes first

  • Bulk from 50 per style, first run: needs a sample, a sealed approval and a trims lock. Lock it first — it has the longest chain before D.

  • MTM from 1, new client: needs a sample. Second in line.

  • MTM from 1, repeat client with a sealed fit: can often go straight to production, so it can be locked closest to D or held for R.

Pre-break WhatsApp lock checklist

  1. Order number and client or style reference.

  2. Measurements complete (or fit record reference).

  3. Cloth confirmed available in writing.

  4. Construction, lapel, pockets, trouser details written out.

  5. MTM or bulk, quantity and size split.

  6. The factory's written D and R pasted into the thread.

Send it now on WhatsApp +65 8013 8838 and the lock date can be checked against the confirmed calendar. How a lock becomes a production slot is on our suit manufacturer China process page; the sample path is in our sample policy.

If you also have December events, the December sheet is separate: December black-tie work-back.

FAQ

When does Shi Yuan stop and restart production for Chinese New Year 2027? Confirm in writing with the factory. We give D and R on the order thread, not in a blog post.

Can an order locked during the break start on the restart day? Ask when you lock. The answer goes in writing on the thread.
