US, UK and EU Suit Size Labels on One Private-Label Run: How to Specify Size Codes for Bulk
A private-label brand that sells in more than one market finds out quickly that a "40 Regular" in one shop is a "50" in another. Conversion charts online disagree at the edges, and a factory has no way of knowing which one your customers trust. The size label is part of your brand, so the code on it should come from your chart, written into the order.
How the markets usually write a jacket size
US and UK: chest size in inches with a length suffix — for example 40R, 40S, 40L.
Many EU markets: a numeric size, often around double the chest inch figure in common charts (so a 40 is commonly shown as 50), with short and long fittings written as separate codes in some countries.
Trousers: waist in inches (US/UK) or a numeric size (EU), sometimes with an inseam.
Those are common conventions, not a standard we impose. Your size chart decides. Send it with the order and we sew the code you specify.

One market code: every label in one system — simplest when you sell mainly in one market.
Dual-marked label: one label shows both codes — useful when the same stock goes to two markets.
Separate runs per market: same style, different labels by carton — useful when each market needs a different size split.
What the size-label spec should include
Your size chart, with finished-garment measurements per size.
The exact text on each label, character for character ("40R / 50", not "US 40 = EU 50").
Label artwork or a photo of the current label.
Which label goes where: jacket, trousers, waistcoat if any.
Size split per style and per market.
Finished-garment specs per size come from grading; see size-run grading from 50. Label placement is part of the trims sheet in labels, trims and packaging.
How the 50-per-style rule meets multiple markets
Bulk runs from 50 per style. If two markets share one style and one cloth, the size split across both markets counts toward that style. If each market wants a different cloth or a different block, that is a different style. Ask on WhatsApp +65 8013 8838 how your split applies before you plan quantities. MTM from 1 orders carry the client's own measurements and do not need a market size code; many shops label them with the client name or order number instead.
Where size labels go wrong
Converted at the factory. If the label text is not specified, someone has to convert, and that conversion may not match your chart.
Labels by carton not recorded. When separate runs ship together, cartons need market marking too.
Chart changed mid-season. A new chart after lock is a change; the clock restarts from the new lock.
Clocks are the same for every market: sample 7–14 days, production 14–21 days after cloth, construction and size specs are locked. Production days are not delivery days. Our suit manufacturer China page covers bulk; the process page shows where specs are locked.
