Private-Label Suits: Labels, Trims, and Packaging Specs Overseas Clothiers Should Lock Early
US private-label clothiers often nail silhouette — then stumble on labels, trims, and packaging. Those details are what make a factory run feel like your brand in the fitting room. At Shi Yuan Suit Factory, private-label programs use your labels on our make: MTM from 1, bulk OEM from 50, sample 7–14 days after confirm, production 14–21 days after confirmation. Trims belong on the critical path.
This article is for overseas private-label buyers learning trim/pack process — not C-end retail. Acumenwear is the English export site; Shi Yuan is the factory (Baodi, Tianjin · Chengxingwang · Est. 2009).
What to specify before sample (not after)
Minimum private-label trim pack:
Woven main label (size, placement, care icons if required)
Care / content label content (composition must match actual cloth)
Buttons / sleeve buttons / pant hook specs
Internal stamps or size tabs if used
Hangtag and uniprice/barcode rules if your retail system needs them
Garment cover, hanger preference, tissue, moisture care for long ocean legs
Carton marks and packing ratio
Construction still must be named: fused / half canvas / full canvas. Fabric still mill-indent or stock per order.
Process map: labels meet sewing
WhatsApp brief — country, brand stage, MTM vs bulk, volume band
Artwork files (vector where possible) + placement guide
Trim readiness check — do physical labels exist, or only artwork?
Sample 7–14 days after measures + fabric confirm (dummy labels only if agreed in writing)
Seal make and trim placement
Bulk from 50+ or ongoing MTM from 1
Production 14–21 days after confirm
QC against seal including label positions
Pack and ship
See Process and Manufacturing.
US private-label checklist
Final brand name spelling locked (no last-minute rename)
Care copy reviewed by someone who understands fiber content
Button color matched to cloth under store lighting, not only on screen
Extra labels ordered for reorders and alterations
Packaging photo approved as part of seal
Who pays for trim tooling / MOQ on labels written down
What happens if labels arrive late (hold cut vs temporary unmarked — decide)
Common packaging mistakes
Spec’ing luxury-looking packaging that cannot survive freight
Forgetting humid climate receiving markets
Mixing MTM single-ship poly bags with wholesale carton standards without a rule
No spare hangers for showroom steam-and-rehang
Labels and lead time — the honest link
Production 14–21 days after confirm assumes trims are available when cutting/sewing needs them. Late labels are not a sewing failure. On WhatsApp, say when physical trims will land in the factory — or ask us to quote trim sourcing as part of scope.
Partner pricing for make and any trim sourcing is on request after scope. No invented retail prices on this page.
NDA and brand assets
Brand artwork is your asset. NDA on request. Do not send final logo files into a group chat with unclear ownership. See also our pattern protection guidance on the blog.

Bottom line for US private label
Treat labels, trims, and packaging as part of product design. Spec them before sample. Seal them with the garment. Then MTM from 1 and bulk from 50 can repeat cleanly inside published clocks. Your name on the jacket; our workshop on the make.

Artwork file standards that save weeks
Send:
Vector logos where possible
Exact pantone / color references for labels if color-critical
Placement diagrams with measurements from seams
Care copy in the languages your markets require
A change log when artwork updates
Factories should not guess clearspace rules from a Instagram crop.
Temporary labels vs final labels
Sometimes a sample uses temporary labels. Rules:
Write that the seal is for make, not final brand trim — or
Require final labels on the sealed sample if placement is brand-critical
Ambiguity here creates bulk disputes that look like “QC fails” but are really trim policy fails.
Packaging as brand experience and freight reality
Test packaging for:
Wrinkle behavior after a realistic transit simulation when you can
Humidity for your receiving climate
Unboxing photos your marketing team will actually use
Retail steamer workflow in store
Pretty packaging that destroys pressing is not premium — it is rework.
Inventory of trims for MTM from 1
MTM programs die when woven labels run out mid-month. Keep a minimum label inventory and reorder labels on a calendar, not on panic. Bulk from 50 should include a trim BOM on the PO.
Care label accuracy is non-negotiable
Composition on the care label must match the cloth you confirmed. If mill-indent cloth changes, update care copy before bulk pack. Mislabeling is not a minor trim issue — it is a compliance and trust issue in US retail contexts.
Button and trim durability checks
On sample:
Check button attachment security
Check shank height if relevant to your look
Confirm spare buttons inclusion policy
Confirm color under warm and cool store lighting
These notes belong in the seal packet with placement diagrams.
Closing for private-label operators
Your customer never sees the factory name on the jacket if you run private label correctly. They see your labels, your pack, your fit. Spec those early so sample 7–14 and production 14–21 are spent on make — not on artwork panic.
