Sample Suits in 7-14 Days: What Must Be Confirmed Before the Clock Starts
“Sample in two weeks” only works when both sides agree what starts the clock. At Shi Yuan Suit Factory, a made-to-measure sample suit takes 7–14 days after measurements and fabric are confirmed. This article lists what must be locked first — so overseas custom shops stop losing days to incomplete briefs.
Factory brand: Shi Yuan. Export English site: Acumenwear.
The rule in one line
No confirmed measurements + no confirmed fabric = clock not started.
Fee and shipping for the sample are quoted on WhatsApp before we cut. We do not begin against a vague “send something navy.”
What “confirmed” means
Measurements
Acceptable inputs:
Your shop’s measurement form (complete, not half-filled)
Agreed pattern blocks with size and fit notes
Clear posture / balance notes when relevant (e.g. forward shoulder)
Incomplete chest/waist with “client will confirm later” is not confirmation.
Fabric
Acceptable paths:
Your cloth already in hand or in transit to us (with mill / composition / weight notes)
Mill-indent or stock program discussed and agreed per order
We do not publish permanent “always in stock” mill promises on the blog. Availability is order-specific.
Construction preference

Commercial basics
Before cut:
Sample fee + shipping quote accepted
Label direction for sample (blank or your brand — as agreed)
Shipping address and preferred carrier class
Typical 7–14 day sample path
WhatsApp intro — country, shop type, MTM or bulk intent, monthly volume hint, construction
Scope quote — sample fee, shipping, what is included
Confirm measurements + fabric ← clock starts here
Make + factory check
Ship sample
Your fit review → written seal or revision quote
Full sequence: How We Work · Process
What the sample window does not include
Fabric mill lead time before cloth arrives
Endless unpaid revision loops after you change the brief
Bulk production (that is 14–21 days after confirmation of the sealed sample / order)
Transit time after handover
How shops waste the first week (avoid these)
Mistake / Fix
Photos of fabric with no weight / composition: Send mill ticket or measured specs
Mixed measurement units without labeling: Mark cm or inches on every field
“Similar to last season” with no sealed ref: Attach prior sealed notes or start clean
Changing canvas type mid-sample: Lock construction before cut
Asking for celebrity-style marketing copy: Stay on B2B specs — we manufacture, you brand
Linking sample to MOQ strategy
MTM from 1 — sample can be the first sellable / client garment path depending on agreement
Bulk from 50 — treat sample as seal reference, then production order
Either way: one clear sample beats three fuzzy ones.

QC expectation on a sample
Factory check against the written brief and construction. You judge fit on your client or fit model. If a revision round is needed after review, we quote it case by case — especially after a formal seal.
Third-party inspection is more common on bulk; for samples, clear photos + written notes usually suffice unless you specify otherwise.
Bottom line
The 7–14 day promise is operational, not marketing poetry. Confirm measurements. Confirm fabric. Confirm construction and sample fee. Then the workshop clock is honest.

Why factories protect the sample clock
A sample line is finite. If every incomplete brief starts a silent countdown, real partners get delayed. Publishing a clear trigger — measurements + fabric confirmed — is how Shi Yuan keeps the 7–14 day window meaningful for overseas shops.
You should treat that trigger as a shared contract. When both sides timestamp confirmation, disputes drop.
Measurement form quality bar
Before you hit send, check:
Every required circumference and length filled
Unit system labeled once at the top
Posture notes if the client is not standard balance
Trouser rise / finish preference if the sample includes trousers
Jacket length preference stated (not “normal”)
If your shop uses a proprietary form, send a blank template once so we know your field names.
Fabric confirmation quality bar
Minimum viable fabric confirm:
Composition
Weight (e.g. gsm or oz)
Color reference
Who owns supply (you vs program)
ETA if cloth is in transit to Tianjin
Photos help. Tickets help more. “Navy wool” alone does not.
Sample fee psychology (practical)
Buyers sometimes stall on sample fees as if fee equals distrust. In B2B make, a quoted sample fee:
Filters unserious tire-kickers
Funds actual cut and trim
Can be credited toward first bulk when agreed in writing
Ask for the number early. Compare it to the cost of a bad bulk surprise.
How to run the fit session when the sample arrives
Fit on the intended body or house model — not only on a hanger photo
Write issues as measurable notes (“ease +1.5 cm at waist”) not only adjectives
Separate taste changes from make defects
Decide: seal / revise / abandon
If you revise, say whether construction stays identical. Changing canvas mid-stream is a new brief.
Sample vs sellable garment
Depending on agreement, a sample may be:
A fit reference only, or
A first client garment path under MTM from 1
Do not assume. Ask on WhatsApp which commercial path you are on before marketing the piece to a client with a hard date.
Connecting sample success to later bulk
The best bulk programs are boring: same construction, same trim family, clear size curve, labels ready. Your sample seal sheet should already contain those fields so the jump to from-50 is administrative — not creative.

Closing
Seven to fourteen days is a workshop promise with a door lock: confirmation. Bring measurements. Bring fabric clarity. Bring construction. Then the clock is fair.
