Some clients ask for a "travel suit" before they ask for a colour. They fly often, unpack in hotel rooms and go straight into meetings. What they want is a suit that comes out of the bag looking close to pressed. High-twist wool is the cloth most tailors reach for, and for good reason. It is also easy to oversell.
What is high-twist wool?
The yarns are twisted more tightly than in an ordinary worsted, often plied, and woven into a fairly open cloth. The tight twist acts like a spring: the yarn wants to straighten, so creases fall out faster when the suit hangs. The open weave lets air through. The well-known open-weave versions are often sold under the name fresco; many lighter "tropical" worsteds also use a high twist.

Construction for a travel suit
An open, springy cloth usually suits a lighter build: a soft or half-canvassed front, a light lining or half lining, and a shoulder that does not rely on heavy padding. Construction: fused, half canvas or full canvas; lining full, half or quarter.
