Wool Products Labeling: Required Info on Private-Label Wool Suits
US wool-labelled private-label suits need four information categories on the stamp, tag, or label under 16 CFR §300.3: (1) fiber content with generic names and percentages by weight; (2) the maximum percentage of nonfibrous loading, filling, or adulterating matter; (3) the name or registered identification number (RN) of the manufacturer or other responsible person; and (4) the country where the wool product was processed or manufactured (16 CFR §300.3; Part 300).
This is wool-Act labelling, distinct from the general textile fiber (TFPIA) 5% rule. Shi Yuan sews the copy you approve; we do not claim FTC certification.
What are the four required information categories?
| §300.3 item | What buyers should write for the factory |
|---|---|
| (1) Fiber content | Generic names + % by weight (wool / recycled wool always stated as your counsel directs) |
| (2) Nonfibrous matter | Max % of loading, filling, or adulterating matter if applicable |
| (3) Name or RN | Manufacturer or responsible-person name / RN you want on the label |
| (4) Country | Country where processed or manufactured, as your broker/counsel directs |
(1) Fiber content: generic names + % by weight
(2) Nonfibrous matter: max % of loading, filling, or adulterating matter if applicable
(3) Name or RN: manufacturer or responsible-person name / RN you want on the label
(4) Country: country where processed or manufactured, as your broker/counsel directs
How does this sit next to TFPIA?
Use Part 300 for wool products labelling and Part 303 for general textile fiber products. Send one clear label package per style so sample and bulk do not diverge.
Factory timing
Lock label text before sample confirmation. Sample 7–14 days after measurements and fabric confirmation; production 14–21 days after sealed-sample approval. Bulk from 50; MTM from 1. Construction (fused / half canvas / full canvas) is confirmed per order.
"For wool programs we sew the four label fields you approve in writing—fiber, nonfibrous matter if any, name or RN, and country—before the sealed sample leads bulk from 50." — Shi Yuan Suit Factory (statement built from published factory policy)
FAQ
What four items does 16 CFR §300.3 require on wool product labels?
Fiber content (generic names and % by weight); maximum % of nonfibrous loading/filling/adulterating matter; name or RN of the manufacturer or responsible person; and the country where the wool product was processed or manufactured.
Is wool labelling the same as the TFPIA 5% rule?
No. Wool products use Part 300 (Wool Products Labeling Act rules). The general textile fiber 5% rule is in Part 303. Brief them separately when both could apply to your assortment.
When must wool label copy be locked for Shi Yuan bulk?
Before sample confirmation and before bulk from 50. We sew the written label package approved against the sealed sample.
