Try-On Wrinkles & Posture Notes Before an MTM Order

Try-On Wrinkles & Posture Notes Before an MTM Order

Try-on wrinkles are not always a sewing fault. Shoulder collapse, seat stance, and sleeve pitch create folds that look like "bad make" in a photo if posture is never written down. Before the first MTM from 1 order, shops should send a short posture note pack so the cutting room does not chase wrinkles that belong to how the client stands. This page is distinct from any fit-photo-approval workflow — it is pre-order notes, not mid-sample photo theatre.

Why posture notes beat silent photos

A front photo with armholes wrinkling can mean pad height, pitch, or a client who rolls forward. Without bullets, we guess. Guessing burns the sample window. With notes, sample 7–14 after locks becomes usable feedback instead of a remake loop.

We serve overseas custom shops on MTM from 1 and bulk from 50 after seal. Production 14–21 after seal; production ≠ delivery.

Posture note checklist (send with first MTM from 1)

Shoulder

  • [ ] Left / right height difference you already pad for in-store

  • [ ] Forward roll or military square — one line

  • [ ] Soft vs structured shoulder preference (house standard)

Seat & stance

  • [ ] Seat prominence / flat seat note

  • [ ] Stance: even weight vs favouring one leg

  • [ ] Rise preference tied to how they stand (not a fashion essay)

Sleeve pitch & arm

  • [ ] Arms hang forward / neutral

  • [ ] Pitch wrinkles you already accept vs wrinkles you reject

  • [ ] Mobility note (desk worker / driver) in one bullet

Jacket length & balance

  • [ ] Front/back balance habits you correct on the stand

  • [ ] Length preference relative to house block

Photo hygiene (minimal)

  • [ ] Front / side / back in fitted base layers

  • [ ] Same shoes height note if relevant

  • [ ] Which photo is primary if several exist

Keep notes as bullets. Do not paste a novel.

Table — wrinkle look vs note that helps

What you see at try-on Note that helps the factory What not to write Drag lines at collar Forward head / neck pitch "Fix collar" with no posture Sleeve wrinkles at pitch Arms hang forward; pitch preference "Sleeves wrong" alone Seat folds behind Flat / full seat + stance "Trousers baggy" alone Shoulder collapse dimple L-shoulder lower; pad intent "Redo shoulder" alone Front balance lift Balance habit on stand "Looks cheap"

Clocks once notes + locks exist

  1. Posture notes + measures + cloth + construction lock.

  2. Sample 7–14.

  3. Written seal.

  4. Bulk from 50 production 14–21 when the style repeats.

  5. Freight outside that clock.

FAQ

Q: Is this the same as fit-photo approval during sampling?
A: No. This pack is before the first cut. Fit-photo approval (when you use it) happens after a sample exists. Different step, different checklist.

Q: How long should posture notes be?
A: Half a screen of bullets is enough. If a note needs a paragraph, split it into two bullets.

Q: Do bulk from 50 orders need posture notes?
A: Graded bulk follows the sealed sample. Client-specific posture stays on MTM from 1. Say which PO is which.

Worked example (hypothetical)

A Toronto shop sent three posture bullets (L-shoulder lower; forward arm hang; flat seat) with the first MTM from 1 brief. Sample inside 7–14 showed expected residual folds they had already accepted in-store — not defects. They sealed construction and later ran bulk from 50 on the house block without re-litigating wrinkles.

Common failures

  • Photos with no posture bullets.

  • Calling every wrinkle a factory defect.

  • Changing posture story mid-sample without restarting the lock discussion.

  • Asking for bulk from 50 on a client body that was never sealed as a house block.

What we are not asking for

A medical diagnosis, a 3D body scan claim, or a branded posture scoring system. Shop language you already use on the stand is enough.

Dual track reminder

Individual clients: MTM from 1 + posture pack. Sealed seasonal styles: bulk from 50. Do not merge them in one PO line.

How to phrase notes without blaming the client

Write observable habits, not judgments: "L-shoulder lower ~1 cm as padded in-store" beats "client has bad posture." Factories need actionable geometry. Clients deserve dignity in the thread.

Residual folds vs defects

Some folds remain after a correct make because the client stands that way. Your posture pack should say which wrinkles you already accept on the stand. That saves a remake argument after sample 7–14.

First-order vs reorder

First MTM from 1: send the full posture checklist. Reorder of a sealed house block for bulk from 50: point back to the seal thread; do not reinvent posture for a graded programme unless bodies changed.

Timezone tip

Send the posture pack with the measure sheet in one message at end of your day. Singapore / China hours can clear lock questions the next working window — faster than dripping notes across three days.
