Overseas custom shops usually need both — a one-off client order this week and a graded private-label run next month. Shi Yuan runs a dual track on purpose: MTM from 1 and bulk from 50. you have one client body (or a small wedding party) and no sealed house sample yet;
you want to test half-canvas vs fused on your cloth before buying meters for fifty;
your monthly volume is still "tens," not "hundreds," and cash should stay in samples.

a sealed sample already exists and you are reordering the same construction;
you sell graded SKUs (S–XXL or numeric) under your label;

Hybrid reality (most healthy shops)
Week 1: WhatsApp an MTM from 1 trial (one navy half-canvas, your house shoulder).
Week 3–4: seal photos in writing.
Week 5+: open bulk from 50 on that sealed block for the colourway you will stock.
Do not ask the factory to "just make fifty like the MTM" without a written seal — bulk copies the seal, not a verbal memory.

A: Usually as separate lines with clear track tags. One PO can reference both, but each line needs its own lock (measurements vs size chart).
Q: Is MOQ 1 the only story?

Questions shops ask before choosing a track
"Our month is 20 client suits — MTM or bulk?"
Usually MTM from 1 until a house block is sealed. Bulk from 50 is for graded stock, not for twenty unique bodies.
"We want 60 jackets but fit is unproven."
Run MTM/sample first. Sixty unsealed jackets are sixty remake risks.
"Can bulk include a few MTM specials?"
Yes as separate lines: bulk line on the sealed chart; MTM lines with individual measurements.
