Customer-Supplied Fabric (CMT) with a China Suit Factory — Confirm List

Customer-Supplied Fabric (CMT) with a China Suit Factory — Confirm List

Sending your own mill cloth to a China suit factory is not "free fabric." It is a CMT-style handoff: you own mill risk, shade risk, and meterage math; we cut and make. Use this confirm list before the courier leaves your warehouse.

Dual MOQ still applies on CMT

Whether cloth is ours or yours:

  • MTM from 1 — one client or trial garment on your meters;

  • bulk from 50 — graded run once the sample on that lot is sealed.

Sample 7–14 days and production 14–21 days still count from lock (measurements + cloth arrived + construction agreed). Late cloth = late clock.

CMT buyer confirm checklist (send on WhatsApp before shipping cloth)

# Confirm in writing Why it bites if missing 1 Mill name + cloth code + composition Wrong code → wrong hand and fuse behaviour 2 Meterage per size / per garment + cutting waste assumption Short meters stop the line mid-cut 3 Shade / lot number on the roll tag Reorders on a new lot look like a different colour 4 Width and usable width Narrow goods change marker efficiency 5 Face / nap / directional print note Jacket fronts can flip shade 6 Interlining / fuse recommendation from mill (if any) Fused fronts fail when fuse ignores cloth 7 Who pays duty / who is importer of record on inbound cloth Cloth stuck in customs is not "in production" 8 Track: MTM from 1 or bulk from 50 for this lot Quote and planning differ 9 Construction lock: fused / half / full Canvas choice changes on some cloths 10 Photo of roll tag + end of roll Matches what actually arrives

Copy the table into your first message; tick what you already know.

Risks you keep as the cloth owner

  • Mill shade drift between indent and delivery.

  • Moisture regain / stretching after air freight.

  • Shortage after marker — especially striped or checked suitings.

  • Fuse strike-through on open weaves if construction was locked for a different cloth.

We will flag obvious problems when cloth arrives, but we cannot invent meters you did not send.

What "lock" means on CMT

The production clock for sample or bulk starts only when:

  1. measurements or size chart are agreed;

  2. your cloth has arrived and been checked in;

  3. construction (and any CMT notes) are written.

See sample policy for what we need before sample, and manufacturing for how bulk CMT runs are planned.

ICP note

This workflow is for overseas custom shops and private-label brands managing their own mill accounts — not for consumers mailing a single remnant for a retail made-to-order story.

FAQ

Q: Can I CMT one MTM suit then bulk the same lot?
A: Yes — seal the MTM/sample on that lot first, then open bulk from 50 on the same shade lot when meters allow.

Q: Do you publish a fixed CMT price list?
A: No public USD list. Brief track + construction + cloth; we quote in writing.

Meterage planning notes (rule-of-thumb talk, not a quote)

Exact markers depend on size, stripe matching, and jacket length. When you ship CMT cloth, include your assumed meters per garment and a waste buffer. If your buffer is zero, say so — we will tell you when the roll cannot finish the PO.

Stripes, checks, and nap goods need extra. Open weaves may need different fuse. Write both before we cut.

Inbound logistics checklist add-ons

  • Commercial invoice for the cloth shipment naming your company.

  • Tracking number shared on WhatsApp the day it flies.

  • Instructions if rolls must be stored flat vs hung.

  • Whether leftover meters return, hold for reorder, or scrap.

Leftover policy should be written once; do not leave it to the end of bulk.

When CMT is the wrong tool

  • You do not have mill access and expected us to source silently.

  • You want five shade lots mixed into one "bulk from 50" without telling us.

  • The cloth is a consumer remnant with no composition mark.

In those cases, switch to factory-sourced stock/indent cloth and keep dual MOQ the same.
