A menswear store that already sells ready-to-wear suits often adds made-to-measure the same way it adds a new brand: a call, a price list, a launch date. MTM does not work like that. The supplier cannot quote a reliable route until the store has decided several things that ready-to-wear never asked of it — who measures, in which units, from which cloth, and who signs off.
None of these decisions is hard. They are just easy to leave until the first client is standing in the fitting room.
The prep list, with an owner for each item
Measuring person (store manager owns): consistent measurements come from one trained hand.
Measurement sheet and units (measuring person): centimetres or inches, body or garment, decided once.
Reference garment (measuring person): a try-on jacket gives a fixed starting point.
House construction (owner or buyer): a default of fused, half canvas or full canvas.
Cloth route (buyer): held by the factory, ordered in, or your own cloth.
Label artwork and placement (owner): ready before the first garment.
Order rhythm (store manager): single orders or a weekly batch.
Delivery address and importer details (admin): who receives and clears the parcel.
One approver on WhatsApp (owner): confirms locks and approves samples.
Which items stop the clock if they are missing
Three of the nine sit directly in front of the factory clock: measurements, cloth and construction. Our sample takes 7–14 days and production 14–21 days, and both count from the moment those three are locked in writing. A missing label or an unclear delivery address will not stop cutting, but it will stop the parcel later. Production days are not delivery days; the delivery leg starts after production.

A ten-day prep calendar
Days 1–2: pick the measuring person and the reference jackets.
Days 3–4: agree units and send a test measurement sheet for one staff member.
Days 5–6: choose house construction and cloth route.
Days 7–8: send label artwork; confirm delivery and importer details.
Days 9–10: name the approver, then place the first MTM order for a real client.
Ten days of preparation is quicker than one remake caused by a guessed unit.
Where bulk fits
Most stores start MTM with single client orders: MTM from 1. If the store later wants its own stocked style in standard sizes, that becomes bulk from 50 per style, sampled and sealed first. The MTM route is set out on our made to measure suit supplier page.
