Why agree before cut
Most first-sample disputes are not “factory ignored the brief”—they are unspoken round counts. If one partner expects three free remakes and the quote assumed one sample plus quoted revisions, timelines and fees break. Write the rule before scissors move.
What to put in writing
On WhatsApp or email, confirm:
Measurement source (your form / client / size block)
Fit intent notes (e.g., closer chest, longer sleeve, unfinished hem)
Construction: fused / half canvas / full canvas
How many revision rounds are included in the sample fee (if any)
How extra rounds will be quoted
Who has authority to seal the sample for your shop

Factory QC after seal references the sealed sample and agreed construction. Third-party inspection is on request (quoted separately).
What “revision” covers vs new work
Typical revision: adjust length, suppress ease, remake from notes on the same model and cloth plan.
Often new quote territory: new silhouette, new construction tier, new cloth with different behavior, or a full pattern restart after a sealed sample. Ask; do not assume.
Sample fee credit reminder
Sample fee credit toward first bulk applies only when agreed in writing. Revision fees, if any, should be called out in the same written thread.
Lead-time impact
Each revision cycle needs confirmation and may need added days beyond the original 7–14 sample window. Rush outside standard windows—if available—must be quoted; we do not invent rush tariffs here.
